Passenger Lounge
Task
In the early 1930s, the need to meet ship passengers at the port increased as the number of ships arriving increased. In order to meet this need, Rebii Gorbon's project was chosen first as a result of the competition opened by the Istanbul Port Management Administration in 1936. This project was built in two and a half years and opened for use in 1940. The clock on the tower of the Concourse Hall dates back to II. It was made by Mustafa Şem, who was Abdulhamid's watchmaker. The Passenger Lounge, which has hosted the Pilotage Service, the Accounting Service of the Maritime Lines Administration and the Port Restaurant until today, was included in the hotel with the Peninsula Hotel project.
